7-Day Social Challenge: My Journey

G’day! It’s Saturday, one of my favorite days of the week because it’s about embracing learning and reflecting on how I can win others over — or as I like to say, giving a big “Woo!” to life. As part of the 7-Day Social Challenge and Be More Social Challenge, I’ve been focusing on intentional living, personal growth, and clarifying my purpose. Today, I want to share my experiences, the people who have taught me the most, and how I’m learning to teach and give back to others.

Let’s dive into my Saturday reflections and lessons from this powerful journey.

WHO Has Taught Me the Most?

When I think about who’s shaped my journey the most, the first people that come to mind are my incredible team in the Philippines. Their dedication, resilience, and positivity constantly inspire me. I catch up with Tim early in the morning — his commitment shines through even when it’s 6:30 AM his time. Tim is the quiet, unofficial leader who always steps up when needed.

There’s also Julia, She didn’t wait for the “perfect timing” to join us. She showed up, ready to contribute, and proved how powerful initiative can be. Watching her step into her role reminded me that sometimes, learning comes from those who lead by example rather than words.

And let’s not forget my furry companion, Pip. She reminds me daily to approach life with curiosity and playfulness. Even in her shyness, she teaches me patience and presence.

Who Can I Teach or Share With My 7-Day Social Challenge?

Part of embracing learning means sharing what I know. Today, I connected with a guy looking to launch wine tours — not because he needed guidance, but because he was eager to exchange ideas. I love moments like these where collaboration sparks growth.

I’m also sharing with my team through small gestures — like preparing gifts for them to remind them how much their work is valued. Whether it’s setting up market stalls for the Men’s Shed or creating Be More Social shirts with fun messages like “Be More RAW” or “Simply Say G’day”, I see these as opportunities to pass on lessons about creativity, teamwork, and showing up authentically.

How Do Different Personalities and Strengths Impact This Journey?

Different personalities truly shape how we experience and embrace learning. For me, strengths like Woo (Winning Others Over) and Maximizer drive me to connect, share, and inspire. Woo fuels my passion for meeting people where they are and encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones. Maximizer pushes me to see potential in every interaction and to help others reach their best.

Meanwhile, my team members bring their unique traits to the table:

  • Tim’s quiet leadership helps anchor us.
  • Julia’s initiative reminds us to act rather than wait.
  • Karlo’s humor and creativity spark new ideas — like the shirts and the online marketplace.
  • The wider community, from Griffith Uni interns to our friends at the Men’s Shed, add layers of knowledge, skills, and fresh perspectives.

When we embrace these diverse strengths, we create an environment where everyone learns and grows together.

Lessons From Today’s 7-Day Social Challenge

Through today’s experiences, I’m reminded of a few key lessons that keep me grounded:

  • Show up for yourself. Whether it’s a job interview, a meeting, or a simple conversation, just being present can lead to unexpected connections and opportunities.
  • Don’t fear rejection. The worst that can happen? Someone doesn’t engage. That’s okay — enjoy your own company and keep going.
  • Appreciate and accept others. When we embrace others as they are, it invites mutual respect and deeper connections.
  • Be playful and open. Whether it’s talking to strangers or designing fun shirts that make people smile, bringing joy into our interactions creates meaningful bonds.

The Power of Simply Saying “Good Day”

Today, while out and about, I had runners pass by and greet me with a cheerful “Good Day!”. It was simple but powerful. These small moments remind me how easy it is to brighten someone’s day or make a connection — no grand gestures required.

By wearing shirts with friendly messages, reaching out to others, by saying “good day”, we invite positivity and openness into our world. And that, my friends, is at the heart of being more social.

A Call to Action

If you’re reading this and feeling inspired, I encourage you to:

  • Take a moment today to reach out — whether to a friend, a colleague, or even a stranger.
  • Reflect on who has taught you the most and find a way to pass that gift forward.
  • Comment below and share your journey with me. Let’s learn from one another and grow together.

Let’s keep this Be More Social Challenge alive — one connection, one lesson, one simple “G’day” at a time.
